On 8th November, Crown Agents won the Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Excellence Award at the 2021 Supply Chain Excellence Awards for Greenshields Cowie’s work supporting the UK Government to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to the British Overseas Territories.
Earlier this year, Greenshields Cowie, as the logistics arm of Crown Agents, was entrusted by the UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to distribute their very first round of COVID-19 vaccines to the UK’s 14 Overseas Territories, many of which are located in the most remote and hard-to-reach regions of the world.
Despite an unprecedented supply chain environment and worldwide transport disruptions due to the pandemic, the team were able to navigate complex logistical challenges to safely deliver the vaccines without spoilage or delay.
Crown Agents passionately believe that no one is safe until everyone is safe in the global vaccine roll out, and this award is testament to the hard work and commitment of an incredible partnership. Working around the clock with the FCDO and the Ministry of Defence (MOD), doses were received safely even in the most isolated communities, such as Tristan da Cunha or the Pitcairn Islands, which are located a two-week journey from New Zealand in the southern Pacific Ocean.
Graeme Kelly, Director of Greenshields Cowie, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised for attaining the highest standards of supply chain excellence, and for the impact our work has had in supporting vulnerable communities to overcome the challenges of the pandemic around the world.”
Congratulations to all involved!
This award is dedicated in memory of Dan Bord, who played such an important role in ensuring our GDP compliance, and without whom this work could not have been possible.
